The Scale is NOT your Best Measure of Success!

How many people do you think get discouraged or are obsessed with weighing themselves??
I am willing to bet a large amount!

I always tell my challenge group members that the scale is not the best measure! We do record our weights, but we also record our measurements in inches in our arms, thighs, chest, waist, and hips. I often tell them to try on a snug pair of jeans as a measure as well. Nothing feels as good as fitting into some jeans that used to be too small or finding out jeans that fit are now too big!! I even challenge some of these ladies not to weight for a week or more. I encourage everyone to take before and after pictures as well. Seeing is truly believing!!
We have to STOP our obsession with the scale, right?!

So why is that sometimes we lose no lbs or few lbs but we can visibly see a difference, feel a difference, fit into those jeans, or see the inches lost??

  • Focus on FAT loss, not WEIGHT loss
    • It is possible to get slimmer without losing weight. Why? When you lose fat, you often gain muscle tone.
I LOVE this picture. It really explains what I am talking about :)

Check out the difference in one of my challengers below...
She has only lost around 5-6 lbs, but the difference in inches is amazing.
She also has seen a difference in her jeans!

Remember to not only weigh yourself, but take pictures, try on your FAV pair of jeans, and take measurements!

It's been a while...

Hello there! It's been a while huh? Um I think about 3 years!! A lot has happened in those 3 years...3 places of work, pregnancy, and mom life! So what's new?? I worked at a small outpatient clinic...didn't like it! Went to an awesome hospital in the city...LOVED it!! Then after having my son took a position at a local hospital...only 8 minutes from home vs the hospital in the city which was 55 minutes on a good traffic day! I found out I was prego a few days before Christmas 2016...yes it was planned. For YEARS, we said NO kids ever! My father died in 2015 and my whole thought process on kiddos changed! Landon David arrived 8/14/17 via planned c section...he was breech! I stressed myself out incredibly too much about sleep, breastfeeding, being perfect, etc AND I suffered from Postpartum Depression and Anxiety! One thing I have learned about Motherhood is that you can plan, but you have to expect the unexpected!! Once I accepted this, my anxiety died down A LOT...
