Anxiety

I used to be embarrassed by my Anxiety. I have suffered from it since High School. I NEVER told anyone!! I really did a pretty good job of hiding it too.

Two and a half years ago, I decided to eat clean. It was a huge transition for this girl! I LOVE food and can out eat the best of em!
I had a couple of friends who were eating clean so I decided to ask their advice. One of these friends just happened to mention that she was able to get off of her anxiety meds after eating clean and I thought...Yea right!! I don't think I even realized what I had was anxiety at that time actually.
I didn't really think anymore about anxiety as she had related it to food.
So in March of 2013, I made the gradual transition to clean eating! I lost 16lbs by the end of April!! I felt better than ever too
It was not until January of 2013, I began to workout consistently. I started training for a 5K and then went into Insanity. I began to learn more about clean eating and balance. I also began drinking a dense nutritional shake 1x a day. A few months later, it dawned on me that I didn't suffer from anxiety that much anymore, if any. I finally made the connection and payed more attention when I did indulge in cheat meals. Oh my...Sugar really did a number on my anxiety!!
It has taken me a long time to realize a way to stop my anxiety without meds and an even longer time to tell the world that I had/have anxiety problems...I just told my parents like a month ago!!
I am not telling anyone to stop taking their meds as I was never on meds and I am not a doctor, but I am asking you to consider what you are eating before getting on anxiety meds. As always, ask your doctor what is BEST for you.

Here is a list of foods to avoid if you have anxiety problems as presented by allwomentalk.com:
  1. Sugary drinks
  2. Processed foods
  3. Refined grains and bread
  4. Chips
  5. Too much chocolate
  6. Caffeine
  7. Sugar
  8. Alcohol
  9. Fast food

It's been a while...

Hello there! It's been a while huh? Um I think about 3 years!! A lot has happened in those 3 years...3 places of work, pregnancy, and mom life! So what's new?? I worked at a small outpatient clinic...didn't like it! Went to an awesome hospital in the city...LOVED it!! Then after having my son took a position at a local hospital...only 8 minutes from home vs the hospital in the city which was 55 minutes on a good traffic day! I found out I was prego a few days before Christmas 2016...yes it was planned. For YEARS, we said NO kids ever! My father died in 2015 and my whole thought process on kiddos changed! Landon David arrived 8/14/17 via planned c section...he was breech! I stressed myself out incredibly too much about sleep, breastfeeding, being perfect, etc AND I suffered from Postpartum Depression and Anxiety! One thing I have learned about Motherhood is that you can plan, but you have to expect the unexpected!! Once I accepted this, my anxiety died down A LOT...
